At the beginning of this course, we were asked to set up many online accounts such as ‘Scootle’. One of the activities for week 3 was to use Scootle to locate online resources that are linked to the content descriptions on the Australian Curriculum. This was my first experience exploring Scootle and I discovered very quickly what an amazing resource that it can be for teachers.
Teachers can read the content descriptions and elaborations from the Australian Curriculum and it handily provides direct links to ACARA.
Scootle is a digital curriculum resource portal governed by Education Services Australia (ESA) on behalf of the Australian Government and the Australian states and territories. It makes available to teachers access to thousands of classroom resources and teacher reference materials.
There is a plethora of classroom resources available such as film, images and interactive resources. Scootle also provides:
- specially designed tools such as the data and spatial visualisation tools;
- teacher reference materials for example units of work, teacher ideas, lesson plans and education packs based on particular resources for teachers; and
- teacher professional learning resources.
Like elmoss2015 wrote in her blog, I will be definitely accessing Scootle whilst planning my lessons for Prac and future teaching positions.
